For lawyers

Hold your argument when the bench interrupts.

Your brief is sound. What decides the hearing is whether your argument survives the third interruption in two minutes.

“Before you move on, what does that assume?”Follow-up question

Preparation happens on paper. Argument happens out loud.

Most advocates rehearse by rereading. Oral argument punishes that: the question comes before your point is made, and the answer has to be short.

  • You answer the question, then cannot find your way back to your roadmap.
  • Hedging phrases creep in under pressure and read as uncertainty.
  • Your strongest point arrives last, after the time has gone.
The mechanism

Questioning that reacts to your words.

Kleig places you in a formal room and, in pressure drills, cuts in with follow-up questions shaped by what you just argued. You practice recovering, not reciting.

How it works
  1. 1

    Upload your outline or notes

Kleig turns them into a spoken roadmap and keyword anchors.

  2. 2

    Argue under pressure

Run the full argument or a sceptical-questioning round with follow-ups.

  3. 3

    Review the record

Timing, hedging, filler rate and structure, scored with reasons and a next drill.

Why rehearsal under pressure works
Exposure-based practice, rehearsing in conditions that resemble the feared situation, is an established approach in the clinical treatment of public-speaking anxiety, including studies using virtual audiences. Kleig applies the same principle to preparation: you meet the room before the day you meet it.

See, for example, Anderson et al., “Virtual reality exposure therapy for social anxiety disorder,” Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 2013.
